Why We Built Threshold Prep
Private counselors can charge thousands of dollars. That prices out the students who need help the most. We think every student deserves the same quality of guidance, not just the ones who can afford it.
“Making great college counseling accessible to every student, regardless of background or budget.”
Our philosophy
The AI never writes your essays. That's not a limitation, it's the point. Admissions officers can spot writing that isn't really a student's, but more than that, you have to write your own story to actually figure out what it is. So instead of generating text for you, Threshold Prep helps you:
- Find your own story. Real conversation and real questions, not words we put in your mouth.
- Build a clear path. From your college list, to your essays, to applications you actually submit.
- Walk in prepared. Practice and feedback until you know your own material cold.
From the founder
I'm Tyler, a current student at the University of Michigan. Not long ago, I was going through the exact same process you are now, and I remember exactly how overwhelming it felt. Writing every essay, trying to stay organized across a dozen deadlines, and praying you get into your dream school.
What made it harder was knowing real help existed, if you could afford it. Private counselors can charge thousands of dollars, which puts good guidance out of reach for most families. I built Threshold Prep because I didn't think it should have to be that way.
