Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 1, 2026

Threshold Prep · thethresholdprep@gmail.com

This policy explains, in plain language, what information Threshold Prep collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built Threshold Prep for students, and we treat your data the way we'd want ours treated: we never sell it, and we never store the words of your essays.

1. What We Collect

  • Account info: your name, email, and password (handled securely through Supabase Auth).
  • Application data: your college list, activities, academics, and interview prep entries.
  • Essay metadata only: which prompts exist and whether you've started a draft. We do not store your essay text — your essays are saved to your own Google Drive, not to us.
  • AI Counselor chat logs: your conversations with the AI Counselor.
  • Payment info: processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Waitlist email: if you gave us your email before creating an account.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and personalize the Threshold Prep service for you.
  • To power the AI Counselor with the context of your own application.
  • To process payments and manage access to your account.
  • To contact you about your account or important service updates.
  • After your subscription ends, we may ask whether you'd like to share your admissions results as a success story — but only with your explicit consent.

3. Data Sharing

  • We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.
  • We do not use third-party advertising or analytics tools.
  • We share data only with the providers we need to run the service: Supabase (database), Stripe (payments), Anthropic (AI responses), and Google (sign-in and Drive integration) — and only as much as is necessary to operate.
  • Each of these providers is bound by its own privacy policy and data processing agreements.

4. Data Retention

  • Your data is kept for the length of your 1-year subscription.
  • After your subscription expires, your data is deleted manually on a rolling basis.
  • Your AI Counselor chat logs are deleted along with the rest of your account data.
  • We may keep anonymized, non-identifiable success data (for example, “student admitted to X school”) only with your explicit consent, which we'll request separately.
  • Want your data deleted right away? Email us at thethresholdprep@gmail.com.

5. Your Rights

  • You can access, correct, or delete your data at any time by emailing us.
  • You can withdraw your consent for success-story features at any time.
  • California residents: your CCPA rights apply — contact us to exercise them.

6. Minimum Age

  • Threshold Prep is intended for users aged 13 and older.
  • Users under 13 are not permitted to create accounts.
  • We recommend the platform for students aged 14 and above.

7. Security

  • All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest through Supabase.
  • We never store API keys or secrets in client-side code.
  • Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers.

8. Changes to This Policy

  • If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you by email.
  • Continuing to use Threshold Prep after changes take effect means you accept them.
